COVID-19 Adaptations for Workplaces and Employees
Device Disinfecting Lockers
Equipment and products that are often exchanged between employees or used in different shifts within an organization are often difficult or impossible to disinfect with cleaning alcohol.
With Barcoding’s CapCleaner UV-C, you can disinfect mobile equipment and other assets efficiently and easily. Using the same method used in hospitals. UV-C light kills viruses and bacteria very quickly and effectively. The special reflection in the CapCleaner UV-C disinfects all sides (360 °).
- Can be used for keys, telephones, handheld
terminals, headsets, tablets, etc. - Disinfected in 30 seconds
- Simple, safe and fast
- Proven UV-C method as also used in hospitals and food industry

Thermal Imaging: Temperature Pre-Screening
For organizations looking to augment their access control procedures with thermal imaging, Barcoding has an answer.
Pre-screening for elevated body temperatures (EBTs) before allowing employees to enter a building or facility is a key way employers are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. EBTs above 100.4°F can be an indicator of a fever, one of the primary symptoms of COVID-19, and thermal imaging cameras can help you quickly assess risk as employees enter the building.
Barcoding’s automated EBT detection solution is intended for preliminary screening of many people in a short time without the need for an operator. The system can integrate with your building’s current access control (including working with your current security team) and uses automated screening with AI to eliminate user error prevalent in other solutions. You can scan multiple people in a crowd or individuals with a ±0.9°F degree of accuracy.
The goal is to limit the risk for employees by removing the need for a person to use a handheld temperature gun and to decrease the chance of bottleneck and lines at entry points. That said, the system does work with an operator or as a kiosk.

Proximity Sensing Solution for Social Distancing
Barcoding’s proximity sensing solution provides proximity and contact tracing insights by leveraging the mobile devices already in use by front-line workers, minimizing additional costs, and accelerating adoption.
The data is tied to an employee ID or anonymized user ID, allowing for actionable insights by the employer while allowing for the privacy of individuals, unlike other public contact tracing solutions. Accurate, automated contact tracing can help companies quickly identify exposed employees for testing, potentially limiting widespread facility closures.
Leveraging Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) and WiFi, the software solution is hosted in the cloud, implemented quickly, and managed remotely. It doesn’t require new infrastructure and can be leveraged on existing supported Zebra Android devices or new devices available in different form factors and price points depending on customer requirements.
We work with Zebra Technologies, the world’s leader in ruggedized Android mobile computers, to provide this solution with security and privacy embedded at the outset.
OSHA Information: COVID-19 Guidance on Social Distancing at Work
Directly from OSHA:
OSHA is committed to protecting the health and safety of America’s workers and workplaces during these unprecedented times. The agency will be issuing a series of alerts designed to keep workers safe. Social (physical) distancing involves maintaining at least six feet of distance between people and is an effective way to help reduce the risk of exposure to the coronavirus. The following steps can help employers implement social distancing in the workplace:
- Encourage workers to stay home if they are sick.
- Isolate any worker who begins to exhibit symptoms until they can either go home or leave to
seek medical care. - Establish flexible worksites (e.g., telecommuting) and flexible work hours (e.g., staggered shifts),
if feasible. - In workplaces where customers are present, mark six-foot distances with floor tape in areas where
lines form, use drive-through windows or curbside pickup, and limit the number of customers
allowed at one time. - Stagger breaks and rearrange seating in common break areas to maintain physical distance
between workers. - Move or reposition workstations to create more distance, and install plexiglass partitions.
- Encourage workers to bring any safety and health concerns to the employers’ attention.
